Southern California Reptiles and Amphibians
Todd Battey and Earth Rover Software completed an iPhone/iPod Touch application field guide to the reptiles and amphibians of southern California in June of 2012. Don Becker took over application programming in 2014. The app is available now on the the iTunes app store and the Google Play app store. This is the most in-depth regional herp field guide app and arguably the most detailed regional field guide app period based on the number of images provided for each species to show the variability associated with different localities, ages, sexes, etc. It also provides shots of habitats and key field marks in addition to recordings of the frogs and toads of the region. There are over 2300 images provided for the 135 species that are recognized by this electronic field guide. Additional information is available here:

In March 2016 the California Rattlesnakes app was released and is available now for Apple and Android devices for 99 cents. All content was written by Todd Battey, all image content compiled by Todd Battey, and all application programming provided by Don Becker. This app is optimized for smart phones to provide a portable guide for the field. It does not require internet connectivity, but additional features are available with an internet connection.
